Nickname: Red
5’11”; 120 lbs.
Black hair with red tips; brown eyes.
He has a mole on his right ear and two warts on his right wrist. He is very bowlegged.
He was wearing Basketball practice attire – a t-shirt; short pants; long socks and tennis shoes.
Maurice was last seen on November 30, 1983 leaving his home in Fort Lauderdale, Florida to attend basketball practice at Dillard High School. It has been established that Maurice arrived at the Franklin Park basketball court that day, but he never showed up for practice.
Two teenage girls reported seeing Maurice being forced into an Oldsmobile by two unidentified black men, but this has not been confirmed. He has never been heard from again. The FBI entered the case but dropped out after another youth reported having seen Maurice a few hours later.
Maurice left his wallet, containing all of his money and identification, lying on a television set in the living room of the family home at NW 30th Terrace. There were never any strong clues or even sightings. The family hired a private investigator and turned up nothing.
At the time of his disappearance, Maurice lived back and forth between his grandmother’s residence and his mother’s home in Alabama. He was involved in many activities at that time. He was choirboy at the Piney Grove First Baptist Church, he played junior varsity basketball and ran track, and he was a Junior ROTC Cadet. He dreamed of becoming a doctor someday.
